This Friday is circled in red on my calendar for a special reason -- time to start the Christmas baking! Everyone gets to choose their favorite treat for me to prepare. What to make first? Maybe cookies -- iced sugar cookies, spritz cookies, peppernuts and pfferneuse. Next up maybe candy? There will be peanut brittle, peanut clusters and coconut bon-bons. Can you say sugar overload? Really, much will go to neighbors and church friends. I just enjoy making everything. Here is one of my favorite Christmas recipes. Put on your favorite Christmas apron, and enjoy!

CRISP RICE CEREAL BON-BONS

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 pound (3 1/2 cups) powdered sugar

2 cups peanut butter

3 cups crisp rice cereal

Chocolate almond bark

In large bowl, mix together melted butter, powdered sugar and peanut butter. Add cereal and stir until coated. Shape into balls and place onto plates. Refrigerate one hour. In large saucepan or double boiler, melt almond bark on low heat. With tongs or spoons, dip cereal balls into chocolate. Remove to wax paper placed on cookie sheets and allow to cool. Stir chocolate frequently to prevent burning or sticking.
