Daily-Egg Scratch Feed is the wording on the logo of the vintage feed sack used for this apron.
The logo is in a circle surrounded by a blue design resembling chicken wire. The words "100 Lbs. Net" are above the logo. Below, it reads "The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. New York, N.Y. Distributors." At the bottom are the words again, "Daily-Egg Scratch Feed." The words "Daily Egg" appear vertically on each side of the main design. The apron is trimmed in blue. To adjust the length, simply place a knot in the single neck tie where desired.
The bag used for this apron is fairly clean, but there are general marks and spots typical of a bag its' age. The design is slightly crooked. Please consider these factors before purchase.
The apron bodice is 12 inches.
The waist is 29 inches.
The length is 35 inches from the top center to the hemline.
The ties are each 30 inches
This apron best fits sizes medium, large or extra large.
Cold water wash and line dry are recommended to prevent fading and shrinking.
The history of the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Inc., also known as A&P, can be traced to 1859. The company evolved from a mail-order company to the largest grocery chain in the United States. The company also owned manufacturing plants. Sales eventually declined between 1973 and the 1980s. The company’s last supermarket closed in 2016.
* Please keep in mind this apron was created from an authentic vintage cloth sack. Photos show the design and print darker than in actuality. While the apron is described as accurately as possible, due to the vintage quality there may be age marks not noted specifically. Also, finding some or many seeds or feed pieces caught in the fabric is quite common. The bags have been washed at least once and many seed/feed pieces have already been removed, but some may remain.
