Pioneer Hybrid Seed Corn Sack Apron - Fits Sizes XS - S - M

Sorry, this item has sold.

This great upcycled apron is from a vintage Pioneer seed sack.

The beige apron features a red and blue print and design. The lettering reads "Pioneer" in red; "The Quality Hybrid" in cursive blue lettering; and "Hybrid Seed Corn" in plain lettering on a red diagonal banner. Below is a blue elongated diamond shape that reads "Every Ear From A Pioneer Detasseled Plant." An ear of corn runs behind the word Pioneer.

Other features of the design include a hand pointing to the bag opening. Also, stamped above the logo are numbers and letters reading 334 M, then a letter too faded to determine. Vintage red and blue flour sack fabric is used at both the top and bottom of the apron to extend its' length. The apron is trimmed red. To adjust the length, simply place a knot in the neck tie where desired. Cold water wash and line dry are recommended to prevent fading and shrinking.

The apron does have a few issues, including general stains as are typical of this age of sack, as well as some darker spots here and there. Please consider all of these factors before purchase.

The bodice width is 11 1/2 inches.
The waist is 23 1/2 inches.
The length is 33 inches from the top bodice center to the hemline.
The waist ties are each 30 inches.
This apron best fits women's sizes extra small, small or medium.

According to the Pioneer Seeds website, Henry A. Wallace started Hi-Bred Corn Company in 1926. In 1935, the name changed to Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Company. (By the way, Wallace then became vice president of the United States under President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.) The company symbol changed to a trapezoid with green print in 1964, so this bag is from before that time. DuPont purchased the company in 1999. Later came a merger with Dow. Now, the company’s agricultural division, Corteva Agriscience, has oversight of Pioneer corn seed.

* Please keep in mind this apron was created from an authentic vintage cloth sack. Photos show the design and print darker than in actuality. While the apron is described as accurately as possible, due to the vintage quality there may be age marks not noted specifically. Also, finding some or many seeds or feed pieces caught in the fabric is quite common. The bags have been washed at least once and many seed/feed pieces have already been removed, but some may remain.
