General Mills Flour Sack Apron Fits Sizes L - XL - 1X

Sorry, this item has sold.

General Mills is a well-known name to bakers, and this apron features one of the company's vintage logos.

The vintage flour sack has a large circle in blue with the words General Mills, Inc., at the the top. Wheat is at the bottom of the circle. Underneath it reads "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." Above to the left it reads 100 Lbs. Net; to the right is a rectangle that states "Products Control, Quality and Uniformity Insured." Near the bottom it reads "Manufactured By General Mills, Inc., General Offices -- Minneapolis, Minnesota." There also is a General Mills flag.

Pieces of another vintage flour sack featuring blue rectangles are placed at the apron top and bottom. The apron is trimmed in blue. To adjust the length, simply place a knot in the neck tie where desired. Cold water wash and line dry are recommended to prevent fading and shrinking.

The apron does have a few issues, including general stains as are typical of this age of sack, as well as some darker spots on one side and another by the logo. Please consider all of these factors before purchase.

The bodice width is 11 inches.
The waist is 30 1/2 inches.
The length is 32 inches from the top bodice center to the hemline.
The waist ties are each 30 inches.
This apron best fits women's sizes large, extra large or 1X.

According to the company website, before General Mills existed as a company, it was a flour mill perched on the banks of the Mississippi River — the lifeblood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Built by Cadwallader Washburn, the Washburn “B” Mill was not only the largest mill west of the Mississippi but west of Buffalo, New York. The company was so successful that an even larger Washburn "A" Mill was built to keep up with demand.

Washburn-Crosby flour brands went on to become a top-selling flour in the U.S., winning the gold, silver and bronze medals for quality in 1880. The highest quality flour was renamed Gold Medal. On June 20, 1928, then Washburn-Crosby President James Ford Bell merged the flour mill with four other mills, and General Mills was born.

* Please keep in mind this apron was created from an authentic vintage cloth sack. Photos show the design and print darker than in actuality. While the apron is described as accurately as possible, due to the vintage quality there may be age marks not noted specifically. .
