Faded Royal River Feed Sack Apron

$59.97

Royal River was the maker of this seamless bag once used to hold grains, feeds or seeds.

A photo of the entire apron is coming soon. Please know it is very similar to the Bemis aprons shown.

The company logo features the words Royal River Seamless surrounding the letter A. Lines to create a circle are around all. The design is faded. A smaller logo is printed above the main design. It is very faded and cannot be clearly read.

Cotton webbing was used for the neck strap and the waist ties. Cold water wash and line dry are recommended to prevent fading and shrinking. Warm or hot water will fade further or even remove the design and wording.

The apron does have a few issues, including general stains as are typical of this age of sack, as well as some darker spots here and there. Please see last two photos that show the stains, mainly on the left part of the apron. A hole on the bodice has been repaired (photo six). Keep in mind the bag used for this apron is very vintage, and please consider all of these factors before purchase.

The bodice width is 13 1/2 inches.
The waist is 33 1/2 inches.
The length is 37 inches from the top bodice center to the hemline.
The waist ties are each 37 inches.
Please use measurements to determine size. This apron was designed for men, but many women like to purchase these sturdy aprons.

From the Yarmouth, Maine Historical Society:
"The Royal River has had a lasting impact on the community of Yarmouth. There are four falls along the river and the energy produced by them led to the development of the town. Grain, lumber, fulling mills were among the early types of mills found along the river. Operating under the name Royal River Manufacturing Company, one of the mills manufactured cotton yarn, cloth, and seamless grain bags. Production continued at the mill until 1951."

* Please keep in mind this apron was created from an authentic vintage cloth sack. Photos show the design and print darker than in actuality. While the apron is described as accurately as possible, due to the vintage quality there may be age marks not noted specifically. Also, finding some or many seeds or feed pieces caught in the fabric is quite common. The bags have been washed at least once and many seed/feed pieces have already been removed, but some may remain.
