Pioneer Vintage Seed Corn Sack Apron for Women Fits Sizes XS or S

Sorry, this item has sold.

A vintage cotton red, blue and green floral print fabric helps make this vintage seed corn sack long enough to be practical as an apron. The fabric was placed in a narrow strip at the top and a wider piece at the bottom.

Red, blue and yellow are the colors chosen for the bag print and design, but they is very faded. The lettering reads "Pioneer" in red; "Dependable Hybrids" in cursive blue lettering; "Hybrid Seed Corn" in yellow lettering on a red diagonal banner; "Pioneer Seed Corn" in red and white on a blue background over a yellow ear of corn.

Other features of the design include a hand pointing to instructions on opening the bag: "Unravel from this end. If bag is not sewn with blue and white thread it should be returned to us for inspection. This is for our customers' protection." The bag also features another of the company's bag designs, a cat in a barrel. Part of the original stitching can still be seen above the bottom piece of red fabric. The seams have been welted to help prevent raveling.

This sack does have several issues. First, the print is very faded and not as dark as it appears in the photo. The bag fabric is pilled. There is one hole that has been patched (photo eight).
There also are a few stains and some rust spots as shown in the last two photos. The price reflects the bag condition.

The apron waist is 23 inches.
The length is 37 inches.
The bodice is 11 1/2 inches.
The ties are 29 inches.
This one-of-a-kind apron best fits sizes extra small or small.
Cold water wash and line dry are recommended to prevent fading and shrinking.
To adjust the length, simply place a knot in the neck ties where desired.

* Please keep in mind this apron was created from an authentic vintage cloth sack. Photos show the design and print darker than in actuality. While the apron is described as accurately as possible, there may be age marks that are not described due to the vintage quality. Also, finding some or many seeds or feed pieces caught in the fabric is quite common. The bags have been washed at least once and many seed/feed pieces have already been removed, but some may remain.
