Apron Upcycled From Vintage Embroidered Laundry Bag / Repurposed Apron For Woman Sizes S or M

Sorry, this item has sold.

A wonderfully embroidered laundry bag is the basis for this all-vintage apron.

The embroidery shows a peasant woman dressed in a jacket, skirt, apron and head scarf. She is holding several balloons, each with an embroidered letter to spell "laundry." Beside her is a basket of picked flowers, and other flowers grow alongside.

The beige bag has been made longer with the addition of vintage blue floral flour sack fabric. The medium blue background of the fabric features scalloped edge circles in white containing flowers in reds and blues. The seams have been turned under to help prevent fraying. The bag looks to be linen but I believe it is cotton. Ironing may be necessary.

The marks from where the bag was sewn together can still be seen (photo seven). Also, the top of the bag still shows where the fabric was gathered by the drawstring (photo four). That area may work out after some washings. There is a smudge mark in the embroidered area, as shown in the last photo. There also are some water marks on the fabric. The back facing on the piece of flour sack across the bodice has been repaired and cannot be seen from the front (photo nine).

The apron is trimmed in blue, and ties at the waist. The neck tie is one piece and can be knotted where desired to adjust the length. Once adjusted, you will be able to just slip the apron on and off.

The apron waist is 28 1/2 inches.
The length is 33 inches.
The bodice is 11 inches.
The ties are 30 inches.
This one-of-a-kind apron best fits sizes small or medium.
Cold water wash and line dry are recommended to help prevent fading and shrinking.
