Can you believe it's August already? For many people, the month means back-to-school time. If you're in the handmade craft business, however, it's show season! Fall is the best time to have a booth at local, area, state or national events. Why? My guess is that is mainly because people start thinking about Christmas gifts. Some of you think about that all year, but many people wait as long as possible.

Craft shows are wonderful places for shopping for others, Christmas or otherwise. Especially great are the all-handmade shows. Many of the vendors I get to talk with at these shows are so invested in their work. They really put their hearts into it. The first show in which I participated was many years ago. I made large tied quilts and felt playsets while the kids napped. It took all year to get those things accomplished for one show. I did not do any again until four years ago when starting this business when they were done with high school.

Doing a craft well takes an investment with not only money, but also time, care and a love for your products. If you go to a craft show, I hope you have enough time to talk with these "artists" and find out just what makes them love what they do.
