Our youngest daughter sometimes contributes items to my shop, although not as often as I would like! A few years ago she crocheted baby afghans for me, and now she has a few cross pieces, including the one pictured here. How cute!

Cross stitch is one of my favorite hobbies. Friends taught me many years ago. We  were were all newlyweds and our children were only a twinkle in our eyes, so we had free time to get together for "craft night." Twice a month, we took turns hosting an evening and providing snacks. Three to five of us took part. We did several types of crafts, but cross stitch was a favorite because it was easy to visit while we worked. Later on, when the kids did come along, our husbands stepped up and took them for an evening. They got together at another home to play with the kids and play cards. How great was that -- what good husbands we have!

Many cross stitch projects have sat on my lap over the years. One of my favorites is a three-panel country Amish scene completed as a gift to my husband. It now hangs over our fireplace. My current project is a Christmas scene -- it really needs to come back out of my craft bag to get completed.

A few years ago, someone told me cross stitch is becoming a lost art, but I think it might be making a comeback. Cross stitch projects are easy to pick up and put down in the evenings, or while traveling in a car. Beginner kits are readily available if you want to try a new "old" craft!
